Two teenagers were arrested tonight after police said they tried to break into a Richland home.

Northern Regional police Chief Bob Amann said officers were called to a home in the 3600 block of Sandy Hill Road about 4 p.m., after a 17-year-old boy called 911 to say he was hiding in the woods because two teenagers had broken into his house.

Officers found a 17-year-old boy in the home and plan to transport him to the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center on a burglary charge. They enlisted the help of several police agencies while searching for 18-year-old Leo Nealon, of Middlesex, who they thought had fled the scene in a car and traveled up Route 8. Officers later reached Mr. Nealon by phone and he surrendered about 7:15 p.m. Police expect to charge him with burglary as well.

Chief Amann said the 17-year-old boy who reported the burglary was the only person at home at the time. It was too early to tell tonight whether that boy knew the burglary suspects, the chief said. breaking - neigh_north
