A McKeesport man is in jail after police in Penn Hills said he tried to grab a 14-year-old girl on Tuesday as she walked home from cheerleading practice.

Richard Ostrosky, 62, is charged with attempted kidnapping of a minor, luring a child and other offenses.

Police Chief Howard Burton said the victim was walking home at about 5 p.m. Tuesday when a pickup driven by Mr. Ostrosky pulled up near her on Chaske Street. He said Mr. Ostrosky got out and tried to grab the teen, but she ran away.

Officers nearby quickly apprehended Mr. Ostrosky after receiving a description of the truck.

Mr. Ostrosky's passenger in the truck, who had been working with Mr. Ostrosky on a plumbing job in Penn Hills, was not involved in the attempt, the chief said.
