A scheduled closure of the outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel for the weekend of July 11 has been postponed, PennDOT announced today.
The closure will be rescheduled. Spokesman Steve Cowan said the closure was intended to allow for repaving but other aspects of the project, including replacement of wall ties, have not advanced to the point where the tunnel can be paved.
Overnight single lane closures will continue that weekend. No restrictions will occur tonight through Saturday night but the outbound tunnel will have single-lane traffic from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6:30 a.m. Monday.
