A jury has found an Indiana County woman guilty of involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the death of her 13-month-old son, who drowned while he was bathing unattended with two toddler siblings.

Tonya Thomas, 27, of White was convicted Wednesday. Prosecutors said that in February 2013 she left Ryden Thomas Jr. and his 2- and 3-year-old siblings unattended in the bathtub and later found him face-down in the water. Defense attorneys said the boy’s drowning was a tragic accident.

Thomas was also found guilty of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and three counts of endangering the welfare of children.

The boy’s father, Wesley Thomas, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child endangerment and was sentenced to three months to two years in prison.
