FR school board approves budget

Murrysville - Franklin Regional school directors have approved a $50.2 million budget for the 2014-15 school year that includes an increase of 0.83 mills in the real estate tax rate. The increase will set the millage rate at 88.51 mills. The board passed the budget last week with an 8-1 vote, with board member Dennis Pavlik casting the lone dissenting vote.

The proposed budget reflects a significant increase in the cost of the district’s contribution to the state’s Public School Employees Retirement System. The district will use $285,,000 from its pension fund budget next year to reduce the impact on taxpayers.
