The principal of Oakland Catholic High School will become the new superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Greensburg, and a new principal has been hired for Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School.
Maureen Marsteller, principal of Oakland Catholic since 2002, has been hired to fill the superintendent’s position. She is a native of McKeesport.
Donald A. Teti, assistant superintendent for secondary schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, is the new principal of Greensburg Central Catholic.
He replaces Denise Myers, who was removed in October after a diocesan investigation revealed financial irregularities and violations of diocesan policies. Mr. Tetil also is a native of McKeesport and a 1965 graduate of the school.
Sister Mary Norbet Long had assumed an interim role as principal after Ms. Myers was put on a leave of absence in September.
“We’re looking forward to their becoming part of the diocese system and educational leadership team,” said Jerry Zufelt, managing director of the office of communications for the Diocese of Greensburg.
“Having come from Pittsburgh, that gives them some familiarity with the region,” Mr. Zufelt said. “The fact is they were the most qualified candidates.”
