Suspect in fatal Troy Hill shooting taken into custody

The U.S. Marshals Service and Pittsburgh police have arrested a Wilkinsburg man in connection with a fatal shooting March 24 in Troy Hill

Theodore Smedley, 18, whom police had been seeking since a warrant for him was issued April 2, was taken into custody this morning at an address in the 200 block of Chalfant Street in Wilkinsburg and turned over to Pittsburgh homicide detectives.

U.S. Marshal Steve Frank said Mr. Smedley is accused of shooting Rasheed Strader, 18, multiple times in the chest and neck the evening of March 24 in the 1100 block of Goettman Street in Troy Hill. Mr. Strader was found lying between two parked cars at about 9:30 p.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Smedley, who was tracked down by the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, is charged with homicide, conspiracy to commit homicide, and carrying a firearm without a license.
