New Kensington police are investigating a shooting behind a Clarion Hotel there early this morning.

Police Chief Thomas Klawinski said a man, whose name he did not release, got out of surgery this afternoon at Allegheny General Hospital, where he was being treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen.

About 5:45 a.m., someone drove the man to Allegheny Valley Hospital after the shooting behind the hotel at 300 Tarentum Bridge Road, the chief said. The man was taken next to Allegheny General. It wasn’t immediately clear when the shooting occurred.

Police have not determined a motive or named a suspect, but detectives hope to interview the injured man soon, Chief Klawinski said. Police also don’t know whether the victim was staying at the hotel or whether the person who took him to the hospital was involved in the incident.

No arrests have been made.

A car was towed away from the hotel lot and is being tested for evidence. The chief said it wasn’t clear if it was involved in the incident.
