Allegheny County Police are getting an arrest warrant for a suspect in the stabbing of a 35-year-old McKeesport man following an argument between the two friends over money.

Theodore Smith was stabbed in the stomach around 8:42 a.m. today at his girlfriend's house in Crawford Village, homicide Detective Greg Matthews said this afternoon.

Mr. Smith and the 32-year-old suspect, longtime friends, were out drinking last night when they decided to stop for a meal at Steak 'n Shake.

"They argued about the change they received," Detective Matthews said.

After the men separated, the suspect came to the house of the victim's girlfriend this morning.

"What are you going to do? Stab me?" the victim asked, according to Detective Matthews. "They're friends. He probably never thought it would come to this."

Mr. Smith was taken by helicopter to UPMC Mercy, where he is in critical condition.
