Man struck and killed trying to move deer off road

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Unity on Friday, the Westmoreland County coroner’s office said.

James A. Armstrong, 65, of Unity was trying to remove a deer from the roadway near East High Acres Road when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle on Frye Farm Road around 6 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 7:12 p.m. An autopsy will be performed today.
