A Swissvale teen was arraigned this morning on charges of attempted homicide and related crimes in connection with a shooting there Friday afternoon.

Allegheny County police wrote in a criminal complaint that a group of men were walking along Woodstock Avenue about 2:30 p.m. when they noticed a black GMC Yukon behind them.

One of the men reported seeing the teen, 15, in the front passenger seat holding a semi-automatic pistol, and the driver with a black revolver, police wrote.

The group ran and heard gunshots, police wrote. The teen fired into a garage where one of the men had taken cover, the complaint continues, and another man said he felt fragments from the bullets hit his face.

A sheriff's deputy saw the SUV on the Rankin Bridge and followed as it continued onto Whitaker Way, then onto Highwood Street in Munhall.

The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, and five people inside got out and ran away, police wrote. Officers apprehended three of them, including the teen. While in custody, the teen told the two others that he fired the shots, according to the complaint.

The teen is also charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and a gun violation, because he is a minor.
