State police said speed was a factor in a Somerset County crash that killed a man Thursday afternoon.

Police said Dean William Blough, 48, of Berlin, Somerset County, struck two other vehicles in Stonycreek Township before losing control and crashing into an embankment. Police said the impact ejected both Mr. Blough and a passenger in his car, Georgiann Ruschak, 49, of Beallsville, Ohio, from the vehicle. Ms. Ruschak suffered major injury.

The severity of injuries of the other vehicles’ drivers was not immediately available.

Police continue to investigate.
