Man freed after being trapped under asphalt roller in Monroeville

A man who was trapped under an asphalt steam roller truck in Monroeville has been extricated and is conscious, police Chief Steven Pascarella said.

The man is en route to the Forbes Regional Hospital, where he will then be flown via helicopter to another hospital.

Chief Pascarella said the man, who works for a contractor completing a paving project in the municipality, lost control of the vehicle and it rolled on top of him. The accident occurred on Saunders Station Road near Abers Creek Road.

Chief Pascarella said officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are on their way to the scene.

The man's identity and other details were not immediately available.
