A fire at an Edgewood building housing electrical equipment for Duquesne Light has caused a power outage.

A damaged electrical vault caused the blaze and led to the power shutoff in the Regent Square area -- roughly one square mile that includes parts of Edgewood, Pittsburgh, Wilkinsburg and Swissvale, according to Edgewood Fire Department Chief Steven Halle.

Mr. Halle said there were no injuries, but he does not know the extent of the damage.

It is unknown at this time when the power will be returned to the area.

The 911 call came in at 7:10 p.m. for a fire at Center Street and Walnut Street in Edgewood. The scene was cleared around 8:43 p.m., according to an Allegheny County dispatcher.
