An Indiana County man faces a litany of charges after he stole a state police cruiser following his arrest in Cambria County Saturday night.

State police said Anthony Joseph Fox, 26, of Smicksburg was arrested on drug charges after police got a call of a suspicious person on Lloyd Street in Nanty Glo around 8 p.m.

Mr. Fox was handcuffed, placed in the back seat of the state police vehicle, and secured with a seat belt. Minutes later, police said, he managed to free himself from the handcuffs, jumped into the front seat and sped away, with Jackson and Vintondale police in pursuit. Mr. Fox lost control of the vehicle in Jackson and ran into a nearby home, where police again took him into custody.

Mr. Fox is charged with escape, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, aggravated assault, theft, drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, burglary, criminal trespass and simple assault. He is being held at the Cambria County Jail awaiting arraignment later this morning.
