An Arnold man is facing a series of criminal charges today following a sobriety checkpoint in East Deer.

State police at Kittanning said Travis James Lasko Jr., 31, of Arnold, is to be charged with drunken driving, drug possession, and a series of traffic violations in connection with the stop at 11:09 p.m. Saturday along Route 28 at the Creighton northbound exit in East Deer.

Police said an officer observed that Mr. Lasko, after arriving at the checkpoint, abruptly stopped his vehicle and switched seats with a passenger then tossed a marijuana cigarette from the window. Police said Mr. Lasko didn't have a valid license to operate the vehicle and the vehicle's registration was suspended.
