A man shot his 39-year-old brother in the chest in East Pittsburgh this morning, who died later at a hospital, Allegheny County police said.

Police found the man at 651 Linden Ave. after a 911 call at 9:11 a.m., a county emergency dispatch supervisor said.

He was taken to UPMC Mercy in critical condition. He died there later this morning.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Dearto Dion Rankin, 39, of Verona. An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow morning.

Police arrested his brother, Andre Rankin, after he surrendered to county and Penn Hills officers when he learned they were searching for him this afternoon.

County police described Mr. Rankin as "reportedly suicidal" in a press release.

Mr. Rankin will face a homicide charge and awaited arraignment in the Allegheny County Jail, county police said.
