Allegheny County police are asking residents to help them identify a woman who was found shot to death in Wilkinsburg this morning.

Homicide Lt. Andrew Schurman said in a news release that the damage done to the woman's face was so severe that they are having trouble identifying her and her fingerprints did not match any on file.

Wilkinsburg police found the woman with a gunshot wound to the head when they responded to the 300 block of South Trenton Avenue for a report that shots had been fired.

The black woman is about 4 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs about 300 pounds and appears to be in her 20s. She was wearing gray sweat pants, a long-sleeve white T-shirt and Nike Air Max running shoes when police found her. She had a shoulder-length weave.

Anyone with information about the woman or the shooting is asked to call the county homicide unit at 412-473-1300.
