An Indiana Township woman has been charged with abusing her role as power of attorney for her 101-year-old aunt and stealing more than $20,000 from her bank account.

Kathryn L. Romea, 53, of Rich Hill Road, turned herself in Wednesday to detectives from the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.

She was arraigned and released on a non-monetary bond.

Ms. Romea could not be reached today for comment.

She was charged with felony counts of theft and access device fraud.

An affidavit alleges that Ms. Romea used money that belonged to her aunt, Rose Danielle, for such things as vacations, car payments, and various retail purchases.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
