Obama Academy to hold block party

An East Liberty church and the parent-teacher organization of the Pittsburgh Obama Academy of International Studies will hold a block party this weekend for students, parents and community members.

There will be games, food, bands and disc jockeys during the party, which will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and be held in the field adjacent to the school, at the corner of East Liberty and Highland avenues in East Liberty. In the event of rain, the party will be held inside the school.


Township to hold 14th annual Community Days

Hempfield will hold its 14th annual Community Days events this weekend at Hempfield Park.

The festival, which runs from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, will include 11 food booths with a variety of food including pizza, wings, barbecue and ice cream.

There will also be bingo, entertainment on the main stage and an area for kids with bouncers and carnival rides. Ride-all day-tickets are on sale prior to the event for $4 at both the parks and recreation office at the Hempfield Township Building and at the Hempfield athletic complex at Hempfield Park. During the festivities, ride-all-day tickets will be $8.
