The city and its planning department will hold a community meeting this evening to discuss the future of Enright Parklet in East Liberty.
It is at 6 p.m. in the community room at East Liberty Place South, 5836 Penn Ave.
The parklet is located at Penn and S. Euclid avenues, in part of the block that contains the two Penn Plaza apartment buildings, one of which is nearly empty. The other will be empty by March 2017 for redevelopment. The park’s future is in question because the city proposed selling it in a deal made with Pennley Park South, owners of Penn Plaza.
Nearby residents raised an outcry that led to a delay in rezoning the site until public comment could add to the discussion about how Enright Park — or whatever greenspace results from the block’s redevelopment — will be designed and to ensure public use.
