A local contractor was shot and killed and a man he worked with was shot in the eye outside a vacant house in Homewood Tuesday afternoon.

The men entered a building in the 500 block of Albion Street, where they talked with a third person about construction on the vacant space, Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said. When they came outside, "there was an argument and then shots were fired," Ms. Toler said.

Glenn Walker Jr., 39, of McKeesport was pronounced dead at 4:18 p.m., a spokesman at the Allegheny County medical examiner's office said. An autopsy will be performed today.

Numerous shell casings were on Albion and intersecting Annan Way, and a gun that had been fired was found near Mr. Walker, she said.

The injured man was alert and talking when he was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, Ms. Toler said.

Police were called to the scene at 4:09 p.m., a county emergency dispatch supervisor said. They are trying to locate the third person and any others who may have been there, Ms. Toler said.
