A man was arrested Sunday morning after barricading himself and his 2-year-old son in their Mount Washington apartment for several hours. Police were called to the 400 block of Norton Street on Sunday, where they found his wife and two friends locked out of the apartment.

Alexander Mendoza, 31, reportedly got into an argument with his wife and physically assaulted her before throwing her out of their home, according to the criminal complaint. A SWAT team was called to the scene after he refused to leave and blocked the front door. Police also reported a history of gun violence at the residence.

Police said he showed signs of being "highly intoxicated" in the criminal complaint. He was taken to Allegheny County Jail and charged with child endangerment, simple assault and unlawful restraint.
