A North Side man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend's son earlier this month in Fineview was ordered today to stand trial.

Michael Monroe, 43, faces charges of homicide, simple assault and terroristic threats in the July 6 death of Dereck Frye, 22.

Pittsburgh police wrote in a criminal complaint that Mr. Monroe choked his girlfriend following an argument about "jitney trips," then attacked her son.

When he returned to the bedroom where his girlfriend remained a few minutes later, he was carrying a bloody butcher knife, police said.
