A man who Pittsburgh police were seeking in connection with a reported assault in Lawrenceville this morning was stopped by both sherriff's deputies and city police.

Pittsburgh police were called to the 6000 block of Butler Street about 11 a.m. today after a woman called 911 to report that her brother had physically assaulted her and showed a gun, public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

Because of the gun, the city's SWAT team was called to the home and remained there for about two hours, Ms. Toler said. But the man was not there.

Ms. Toler said Pittsburgh police were trying this afternoon to obtain a warrant for him. Allegheny County sheriff's deputies stopped him in the North Side about 2:30 p.m.
