Police found only debris in the Allegheny River near O'Hara this afternoon after 911 dispatch received a call that there was a body in the water, according to police.
An Allegheny County emergency dispatch supervisor said 911 was notified at 2:43 p.m. that there would be "activity on the river from the appropriate agencies." The supervisor would not elaborate.
It was later discovered to be debris -- trash and logs -- near a Highland Park loading dock.
Emergency crews have been working since July 4 to find an elderly man who was putting markers in a shallow area of the river and was swept away by the water current in the vicinity of this recovery effort.
