A 3-year-old wandered into a Troy Hill street and walked into the back end of a moving vehicle this afternoon, Pittsburgh police said.

The incident occurred about 3:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Hatteras Street, and the driver did not stop, public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said in a press release.

Investigators said "it is possible the driver may not have realized what had happened," she said. Witnesses did not give a clear description of the car.

The toddler was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC and is in fair condition with no serious injuries, Ms, Toler said.
