Pittsburgh police are investigating an incident at the Community College of Allegheny County's Allegheny campus in which chemicals in a lab were accessed, prompting early dismissal today for two classes.

CCAC spokeswoman Elizabeth Johnston said chemicals in the fifth-floor lab in the K. Leroy Irvis Science Center were improperly accessed sometime in the last 24 hours.

It was not clear Tuesday which chemicals were handled and what exactly was done with them. Police were taking an inventory of the items in the lab, Ms. Johnston said.

No injuries were reported. The situation was discovered this morning as the school opened for the day.

Two classes were dismissed early as a precaution and the fifth floor remains closed.
