A water main break in the Lincoln Place section of the city has resulted in the indefinite closure of Mifflin Road, city officials said today.

Police said the road would be closed at Mohrbach and McElhinny streets until further notice. The water main break caused extensive flooding in several homes and structural damage to the pavement, officials said. Surrounding hillsides also were affected.

Pittsburgh public safety is asking everyone to avoid the area off Mifflin Road near Mohrbach and McElhinny.

Pennsylvania American Water owns the water line.
