Police in Shaler and Ross are investigating whether a string of similar robberies of convenience stores may be the work of the same individual.

Ross police Detective Brian Kohlhepp said in a news release that a white male entered a Sunoco station on Babcock Boulevard in Shaler just before 1 a.m. May 18, brandished a knife and robbed the clerk.

On May 24 -- at almost the same time -- a knife-wielding man robbed a 7 Eleven on Thompson Run Road.

The male in both cases was described as a white male about 5-foot-8 with a medium build. His face was covered and he was dressed similarly in both cases. There is some information that the male could be operating an older blue car.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact either the Shaler Township or the Ross Township Police Departments.
