A Friendship woman was arraigned around midnight on Wednesday for attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment of her husband.

According to a criminal complaint, Valinda Holland, 60, told her husband Thomas Holland, who was shaving in the bathroom, that if he didn't open the door, she was going to “start putting bullets through it.” Police said Mr. Holland left the bathroom, walked down the hall and found his wife holding his Sterling .25 Auto handgun. She told her husband that he was lucky the gun didn't go off, and proceeded to scratch and kick him until he pushed her away, police said.

Ms. Holland told him that she was going to UPMC Shadyside to report physical abuse, during which time Mr. Holland called the police.

During conversations with police, Ms. Holland claimed several times that she had tried to kill her husband. She was arrested and taken to Allegheny County Jail, where she is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing set for June 10.
