An East Pittsburgh man wanted on a probation violation was arrested Monday after officials said they found him at a hotel in Somerset County with illegal drugs.

Jon D. Edwards, 32, was placed on probation when he pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and drug charges after Pittsburgh police said they found him about to smoke heroin in a car with two children, ages 2 and 4, in 2012.

Allegheny County sheriff's deputies received a tip that Edwards was staying at a hotel in the 800 block of 17th Street in Windber and asked police there for assistance arresting him, according to a news release.

Edwards is being held in the Somerset County Jail and will be brought to Allegheny County at some point this week, the sheriff's office said.
