A Pittsburgh Public Schools van was struck by an SUV this afternoon in East Liberty, sending six children to the hospital for evaluation.
City public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said she did not know the ages or conditions of the children, who were all transported to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, but said there were no major injuries. A school spokeswoman was not available for comment.
The crash occurred at 4:26 p.m. at the intersection of Hays Street and North Negley Avenue, an Allegheny County emergency dispatch supervisor said.
Ms. Toler said a northbound SUV struck the eastbound van. Neither driver was transported for treatment of injuries. She said it was unclear whether the SUV driver will face charges.
