Rabid cat attacks woman, children in Spring Hill

A Pittsburgh woman, her daughter and nephew were attacked by a feral cat found to be rabid.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Friday on Royal Street in Spring Hill, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, The woman and children were treated for rabies at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said it is important that residents avoid stray cats. Residents are asked to call Animal Care and Control at 412-255-2036 if they see any cats acting strangely.
