A 48-year-old man was shot late Sunday night in Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood, police said.

The man, whose name police weren't releasing, was shot in the leg, ankle and buttocks shortly before midnight near the intersection of Federal Street Extension and Perrysville Avenue, police in the city's Zone 1 station said.

Police said the man told them he was walking along Federal Street when a red van drove past and at least one person inside fired shots as the van kept going.

Police described his condition as stable. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. No arrests have been made.
