A flood advisory has prompted the Public Parking Authority of Pittsburgh to close the Mon Wharf to parking Friday.

The wharf will be closed until further notice.

The National Weather Service today issued an advisory that river levels around The Point will start to rise by Friday afternoon, with the most significant rise occurring Saturday morning.

The river was at 16.5 feet at 11 a.m. today and expected to rise to 19 feet by Saturday evening. Although flood stage is 25 feet, the Wharf Parking Area begins to take on water at 18 feet.

Additional parking is available at the First Avenue Garage and Second Avenue Plaza.
