The Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers is preparing to distribute 40,000 new books through the First Book program today at the union’s headquarters on the South Side.

The books will go to help students in Pittsburgh Public Schools that receive Title 1 money, which is all of the schools except Pittsburgh Colfax K-8 and CAPA 6-12.

Teachers and other educators at the schools will be able to get 100 books each for their classrooms. Students of any teacher registered with First Book will be able to receive three books.
