Government services shut down on Christmas

All City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and federal offices and courts are closed today for the Christmas Day holiday.

Banks and liquor stores are closed.

Post offices are closed, with no pickup or delivery of regular mail.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County is running holiday bus, T and incline service and the customer service line (412-442-2000 or the TTY number, 412-231-7007) will operate from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. City garbage pickup is delayed one day.

First Night returns

Highmark First Night, an arts-focused and family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration, returns to Downtown on Tuesday. It includes about 150 events at nearly 50 indoor and outdoor venues within the 14-block cultural district. There will be a countdown to midnight, raising of the "Future of Pittsburgh" ball and a fireworks display.
