There are about 50 applicants for every position posted by incoming Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto’s administration.
The foundation-backed Talent-City.com website received more than 1,500 applications by the deadline Tuesday for 32 positions posted last month, with more than half coming from outside Pennsylvania.
Consultants hired by the $275,000 effort, being overseen by the Pittsburgh Foundation, have been evaluating the applications and performing initial interviews. Finalists will be screened by selection committees, which will forward the Peduto transition team slates of up to five candidates for high-profile jobs by his inaugural Jan. 6.
Three major jobs heading the finance, public safety and public works departments are still open for application through Dec. 27.
