A University of Pittsburgh trustees panel today approved initial stage work on a $7.8 million renovation of Bruce Hall on the school’s main Oakland campus as well as a 10-year lease for space in Rivertech Office Works complex for the Department of Sports Medicine and Nutrition.
Pitt officials said after a meeting of the trustees’ property and facilities committee that the Bruce Hall work includes interior and infrastructure upgrades such as storm and sanitary piping, new handicapped accessible bathrooms, replacement of obsolete air handling units, and improved door security hardware.
Money for the work will come from auxiliary reserves.
At Riverview, the Sports Medicine and Nutrition department within Pitt’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences leases 7,790 square feet of office and laboratory space, the university said. The lease for various research programs approved today will boost the space to 11,667 square feet.
