A Sheraden man was held for trial this afternoon in connection with a Chateau bank robbery earlier this month.

Christopher Clinton, 28, of Sheraden faces one count of criminal conspiracy in the Oct. 10 robbery of a Citizens Bank in the 1600 block of Metropolitan Street. He is scheduled to appear in court for formal arraignment Dec. 16.

According to a criminal complaint, Mr. Clinton flagged down an officer after the robbery and initially told him he had been carjacked. He later changed his story and said that he knew, but would not name, the robber and knew the man had robbed banks in the past, police wrote.

Mr. Clinton told police he parked his car around the corner from the bank and then drove off when the man jumped into the back seat of his Ford Expedition following the robbery. He said he flagged down the officer because he wanted help for his drug addiction.
