A white truck with ladder racks smashed into a Port Authority bus shortly before 3 p.m. in Downtown Pittsburgh and drove off from the intersection of Boulevard of the Allies and Commonwealth Place, police said.

"He cut right in front of me and I braked," the Port Authority driver told police as they arrived on the scene.

The bus' windshield popped out in the crash but the windshield wipers kept going. As the driver told police what happened, the wipers knocked him in the side of the head.

Port Authority police said the pickup truck driver disregarded the traffic light.

Nine people were injured, none seriously, on the No. 20 Kennedy bus, according to Port Authority police.

Witnesses said the vehicle is a white Ford F150 and that it was badly damaged in the crash.
