Pittsburgh police this morning arrested a man wanted in the stabbing death of his sister Tuesday night at their aunt's home in Sheraden.

After being questioned at police headquarters on the North Side, Chris Hoffman, 34, was charged with homicide and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Police said Mr. Hoffman stabbed Lora Rose Hoffman-Krashna, 31, several times in the head, neck and face with an 8-inch kitchen knife at his aunt's home on Allendale Circle.

Authorities believe the two had been arguing about him lying on the couch while the family was watching TV, police said in a press release.

The argument escalated before Mr. Hoffman walked into the kitchen, returned with the knife and stabbed his sister, police said. She stumbled into the kitchen and collapsed.

Officers from the Pittsburgh police Zone 6 station arrived after a 911 call at 10:17 p.m.

The siblings' aunt and grandmother were home at the time and witnessed the attack, police said.

This morning, someone called 911 to report a man, covered in blood, walking toward the railroad tracks near Station Square. Officers found Mr. Hoffman on the tracks near the Duquesne Incline at 9:34 a.m. and he was calmly taken into custody, police said.

According to the Allegheny County medical examiner's office, Ms. Hoffman-Krashna's cause of death was a stab wound to the neck.

Mr. Hoffman was arrested Aug. 29, 2006, for robbing the Fifth Third Bank on Forbes Avenue on Squirrel Hill while dressed as a woman.

That day, police said he approached a teller demanding cash and set his purse on the counter, gesturing that a gun was inside. When the teller handed him cash, he left the bank and was tackled by pedestrians on the sidewalk, who held him for police.

Mr. Hoffman served a jail sentence on that charge and was released March 15 on federal probation.
