Allegheny County Sheriff's deputies today padlocked two Pittsburgh bars, one in Homewood and the other in Sheraden, on charges of failing to forward the county's 7 percent drink tax.

County Treasurer John Weinstein, who announced the legal action, said the operators of the Thomas Lounge, 522 Rosedale St., Homewood, and Molly O's, 3128 Chartiers Ave., Sheraden, have been habitually late or failed to report and pay the money they collected from customers for the poured-drink tax.

The Thomas Lounge owes $48,000 and Molly O's is behind by more than $6,500.

Mr. Weinstein has authorized the filing of more than 120 lawsuits against delinquent establishments that have brought in more than $1 million in delinquent taxes.

A total of 30 establishments, including six in the past month, have been shut down and padlocked for failure to pay taxes due.
