The American Wind Symphony Orchestra has postponed its Point State Park concert because of weather conditions and mechanical difficulties.

Musicians on the orchestra's floating arts center, the Point Counterpoint II, were supposed to perform Saturday at the Point, its home port.

This season, the vessel has suffered mechanical difficulties requiring it to travel in tow. It is currently tied up on the Ohio River in Kentucky, where two locks are closed for repairs. Three scheduled stops in West Virginia were cancelled because of power outages in the state.

"I prefer the word 'challenge' rather than 'problem,' " said AWSO music director Robert Boudreau, "but my 55th anniversary tour has presented so many challenges that I feel a kinship with Job."

Mr. Boudreau hopes that the vessel will be back in Pittsburgh by its second scheduled concert, on July 21 at 8 p.m.
