A two-car accident briefly closed a Downtown intersection this morning.

The accident was reported shortly before 8 a.m. at Fort Pitt Boulevard and Stanwix Street, a city dispatch supervisor said.

The accident caused one car, a BMW crossover, to flip over and land on its roof. The driver, Ann Averback, crawled out the back window. She was taken to UPMC Shadyside by her brother-in-law.

The other car slammed into a pole. The driver of that car was taken to UPMC Mercy.
