A free running clinic is planned for this morning at Allegheny General Hospital to prepare runners for the upcoming Great Race on Sept. 25.
Set for 8 a.m. to noon, the clinic will be held at the Federal North Building, 1307 Federal St., North Side, and is open to experienced and beginning runners.
Sponsored by the hospital's Division of Sports Medicine, it will provides free individualized screenings and offers assessment and information stations to help address individual running needs. Topics include choosing a running shoe, assessing flexibility, beating the heat, foods and fluids as fuel, strength assessment, chronic injuries and training programs.
A session for beginning runners and walkers will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and a session for runners who average more than 30 miles per week will be held from 8 to 8:45 a.m.
