Rosebud Fine Food Market, 100 Seventh St., Downtown, will close and vacate the building by April 1 due to impending bankruptcy.

The store's owner, Robin Fernandez, told the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership that his landlord told him to vacate because of his inability to pay monthly rent and expenses.

"We are very disappointed to hear this news today," said PDP President Michael Edwards. "We applaud Robin for his efforts to keep the store open as long as he could and recognize the challenges of succeeding as a small, family-owned market in Downtown."

The partnership was a funder of the project. Mr. Edwards said it's too soon to tell what will happen next.

"Having a market Downtown to support the growing residential population is very important, but we feel that perhaps lack of marketing and a soft economy hindered Rosebud's success and are lessons learned going forward."
