The WPIAL football semifinals will all be played Friday night and will include three defending champions.
The WPIAL announced playoff sites this morning and the three defending champions still alive are West Allegheny in Class AAA, Aliquippa in Class AA and Clairton in Class A. The only defending champion not in the semifinals is North Allegheny, which lost to Upper St. Clair in last week’s quarterfinals.
The championships in all four classes will be played at Heinz Field Nov. 23. Here are the semifinal match-ups and the sites (all games at 7:30 p.m.):
Class AAAA – Upper St. Clair vs. Woodland Hills at Baldwin; Penn-Trafford vs. Central Catholic at West Mifflin.
Class AAA – West Allegheny vs. Franklin Regional at North Allegheny; Thomas Jefferson vs. Central Valley at Chartiers Valley.
Class AA – Aliquippa vs. Beaver at Ambridge; South Fayette vs. Beaver Falls at Montour.
Class A – Sto-Rox vs. Clairton at Chartiers-Houston; Neshannock vs. North Catholic at Mars.
