The Tribune-Review is closing seven of its 15 weekly newspapers and sending other weeklies to the subscribers of the shuttered papers.

Ralph Martin, the chief executive officer of Trib Total Media, said the company was closing the Bridgeville Area News, North Journal, McKnight Journal, Woodland Progress, Penn Hills Progress, Coraopolis-Moon Record and the Advance Leader after Thursday's editions.

Other weeklies will be delivered to households in Allegheny County, with the Pennysaver added to those editions as an expanded classified advertising section. The Tribune-Review acquired Gateway Press Inc., publisher of the weeklies, in 2003.
